ADVISORY: Parkdale lane restrictions on December 28th

Please be advised that there will be lane restrictions on Parkdale Ave (between Brampton Street and Burlington Street) on Wednesday, December 28th between 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM for emergency sewer work.

HSR routes 4 BAYFRONT and 11 PARKDALE operate along Parkdale Avenue on the affected roadway and may see moderate delays as a result of this road work.

Boxing Day Race Detours routes 4 BAYFRONT and 6 ABERDEEN

The Boxing Day Race will be held on Monday, December 26th and will involve approximately 1,000 runners.

Additionally, be advised that HSR buses will be operating on a SATURDAY schedule for Boxing Day.

The following road closures will occur as a result of the race. Please note that times shown are approximate:

  • Hughson Street – Hunter Street to Murray Street (11:30 AM to 2:30 PM)
  • Murray Street – Hughson Street to Bay Street (11:30 AM to 2:30 PM)
  • Longwood Road – Dufferin Street to Macklin Street (12:00 noon to 2:00 PM)
  • Macklin Street – Longwood Road to King Street (12:00 noon to 2:00 PM)

During the race it will be necessary to detour routes 4 BAYFRONT and 6 ABERDEEN. While there are no other detours necessary, there may be delays to other routes which operate adjacent the race. The route detour are as follows below:

Construction closure at Parkdale and Glow detours 4 BAYFRONT and 11 PARKDALE extended [UPDATED 12/15]

Effective immediately and until Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 at the beginning of service, the intersection of Parkdale Avenue and Glow Avenue will be closed due to construction. Therefore, Route 4 BAYFRONT and 11 PARKDALE buses (Northbound Only) will be on detour during this time.

The original notice issued by the city had the end date listed as Wednesday, December 7th, 2016. This was quietly extended on December 7th. The detour ended at 9:45 PM on December 14th, but was put back in place the morning of December 15th.

As of 11:30 AM the road has again reopened and the detour has been cancelled.

Buses will be on detour as follows below.

Road 2 Hope Marathon Detours Multiple Routes on November 6th [ UPDATED ]

The Road2Hope marathon takes place on Sunday, November 6th, 2016. The marathon consists of a full and a partial marathon, each resulting in separate road and lane closures.

The full marathon (42 km) starts at Dofasco Park (1st Road East, south of Green Mountain Road) in upper Stoney Creek at 8:00 AM. The runners proceed north on Third Road East, east on Green Mountain Road, north on Tapleytown Road, east on Ridge Road, south on Fifth Road East, west on Highland Road, north on Albion Road, north on the Red Hill Valley Parkway exiting at Barton Street. The runners will continue west on Barton Street and enter the Red Hill rail trail just west of the southbound off ramp. The runners will remain on the rail trail, take the new bridge over the QEW and exit at Van Wagners Beach Blvd. Runners will cross the street near Confederation Park and proceed to the Beach Trail (Burlington bound). Runners will exit onto Beach Blvd. near Van Wagners and continue northwest (Burlington bound) on the lake side of Beach Blvd. The runners will then enter the Beach trail near Eastport Drive and return via the Beach trail to Confederation Park.

The half marathon (21 km) starts at Dofasco Park at 8:15 AM.

The following road and lane closures that will affect HSR will be in effect while the race is in progress:

  • Red Hill Valley Parkway (downbound lanes only) from Mud Street to Barton Street, approximate times 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Beach Boulevard (one Burlington bound lane) from Woodward Avenue to Eastport Drive from approximately 8:45 AM to 1:00 PM.

Delays can be expected, perhaps severe, at the following locations:

  • Barton Street – Race participants will exit the RHVP, cross to the furthest north westbound lane and enter the Red Hill trail just west of the southbound off ramp. Police will assist participants in crossing from the south side to the north side of Barton Street from approximately 8:30 to 11:15 am.
  • Upper Centennial Parkway – Race participants will cross at Highland Road from approximately 8 to 9:45 am.
  • Stone Church Road – Race participants will cross at the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway (Stone Church on ramp to RHVP northbound) from approximately 8 to 9:45 am.

As a result, routes 11 PARKDALE and 43 STONE CHURCH buses will be detoured.

2016 Supercrawl Detours Sept 8th – 11th

Supercrawl is taking place on the weekend of September 9-11, 2016. The event will result in the closure of the following streets:

  • James Street, between King Street (north leg) and Strachan Street
    Thursday, September 8 at 2:30 am until 4 am on Monday, September 12.
  • York Blvd., between Bay Street and Hughson Street
    Thursday, September 8 at 2:30 am until 4 am on Monday, September 12.

2016 Labour Day Parade Downtown Detours

The 2016 Hamilton Labour Day parade will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. The parade will assemble on York Blvd. between Dundurn and Queen starting at 9:00 AM.

At 10:30 AM, the parade will travel south on Queen, east on Main, north on Bay, and west on York Blvd. to Dundurn Park. The parade will arrive at Dundurn Park at approximately 12:30 PM. The parade will result in the closure of the following streets between 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Please note that HSR buses will be allowed to proceed on Main eastbound as far as the intersection at Queen Street.

  • York Blvd. between Dundurn and Bay
  • Bay Street between Main and Cannon
  • Queen Street between York Blvd. and Main
  • Cannon Street between Bay and Queen
  • Main Street between Queen and Bay
  • King Street between Queen and MacNab

Due to the road closures routes 4 BAYFRONT, 5 DELAWARE (all branches), 7 LOCKE, 8 YORK, 9 ROCK GARDENS, 34 UPPER PARADISE and 99 WATERFRONT SHUTTLE will be detoured between approximately 9:30am until 12:00pm.

Bay Street closure detours routes 4/7/8/99 on August 16th [ CANCELLED ]

Bay Street will be closed between York Boulevard and King Street as a result of celebrations for the final Tragically Hip Concert in Hamilton on Tuesday, August 16th from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Due to the road closures routes 4 BAYFRONT, 7 LOCKE, 8 YORK, and 99 WATERFRONT SHUTTLE will be on detour.

The Feast of Maria SS Del Monte Detours 4 BAYFRONT June 25-26, 2016

The Feast of Maria SS del Monte (Racalmutese) will be held in the north end this weekend Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26. There are a number of closures and parades that will have an impact on HSR Operations.

For the festival, MacNab Street will be closed between Barton and Colbourne from 6 to 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Colbourne Street will also be closed between MacNab and Severn for the fireworks display as part of the festival.

Due to this event, route 4 BAYFRONT will be detoured as follows:

2016 Open Streets Hamilton Event Detours Multiple Routes June 19th

Open Streets Hamilton is taking place on Sunday, June 19th, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will result in the closure of James between York Blvd / Wilson Street and Strachan Street.

East/West cross traffic will be maintained by Hamilton Police at Cannon and Barton.

James Street North Nightly Closure – May 9-12 detours Routes 2/3/4

There will be watermain tie-ins occurring at the development at James and Vine on weeknights from Monday, May 9th to Thursday, May 1th2 inclusive. The work will occur from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM each night/early morning. As a result, James Street North will be closed between Vine Street and York Blvd. nightly.

Due to the closures routes 2 BARTON, 3 CANNON, and 4 BAYFRONT will be detoured.
