2016 Labour Day Parade Downtown Detours

The 2016 Hamilton Labour Day parade will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. The parade will assemble on York Blvd. between Dundurn and Queen starting at 9:00 AM.

At 10:30 AM, the parade will travel south on Queen, east on Main, north on Bay, and west on York Blvd. to Dundurn Park. The parade will arrive at Dundurn Park at approximately 12:30 PM. The parade will result in the closure of the following streets between 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Please note that HSR buses will be allowed to proceed on Main eastbound as far as the intersection at Queen Street.

  • York Blvd. between Dundurn and Bay
  • Bay Street between Main and Cannon
  • Queen Street between York Blvd. and Main
  • Cannon Street between Bay and Queen
  • Main Street between Queen and Bay
  • King Street between Queen and MacNab

Due to the road closures routes 4 BAYFRONT, 5 DELAWARE (all branches), 7 LOCKE, 8 YORK, 9 ROCK GARDENS, 34 UPPER PARADISE and 99 WATERFRONT SHUTTLE will be detoured between approximately 9:30am until 12:00pm.

Beckett Drive closure August 21-26 detours 34 UPPER PARADISE

Hamilton’s Public Works Department will close the Queen Street Hill (Beckett Drive) this Sunday, August 21st, 2016 after 9:00 AM until Friday, August 26th, 2016 weather permitting due to rock scaling.

Due to the closure, 34 UPPER PARADISE will need to be temporarily detoured during this time.

Queen St closure detours 34 UPPER PARADISE August 8-9

A film shoot is taking place on Queen Street, between King Street and Main Street from 7:00 AM on Monday, August 8th, 2016 to 7:00 AM on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016. The film shoot will result in the closure of Queen Street between King and Main to all traffic during this time.

Due to the closure route 34 UPPER PARADISE will be detoured.

Main Street Closure Detours routes 5/34 May 16th at 8pm

Effective Monday, May 16th, 2016 from approximately 8:00 PM to Tuesday, May 17th at approximately 4:00 AM, Main Street East from James Street to Hughson Street will be closed due to a film shoot.

Due to the closures routes 5 DELAWARE and 34 UPPER PARAIDSE will be detoured. Routes 1 KING does not operate on this stretch of Main Street during the affected times and 10 B-LINE EXPRESS is not in service during the affected times.

The movie shoot is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 16th, 2016 at approximately 9:00 AM. The southerly lane will be closed for the entire day and there will be intermittent stoppages from approximately 12:00 NOON to 3:00 PM. There will be interior filming taking place from approximately 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This should have no impact to HSR service. At 7:00 PM the second to southerly curb lane will be closed leading up to the full closure at 8:00 PM.

Main Street Closure Detours Multiple Routes Dec 27th – 30th

Effective Sunday, December 27, 2015 until Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from approximately 6 am to 6 pm daily, Main Street from Caroline Street to Bay Street will be closed due to a crane dismantling at Main and Caroline. Due to this closure, several HSR routes above will be detoured during this time.

Routes affected by the closure include 1 KING, 5 DELAWARE (all branches), 7 LOCKE, 10 B-LINE EXPRESS, 34 UPPER PARADISE, and 51 UNIVERSITY.

Hess and Aberdeen Closure Detours Routes 6/34 on July 24th & 27th

Effective Friday, July 24, 2015 & Monday, July 27, 2015 from approximately 7 am until 7 pm weather permitting, the intersection of Aberdeen Avenue and Hess Street will be closed to all HSR turning movements. Therefore, Routes 6 ABERDEEN eastbound only and 34 UPPER PARADISE northbound only buses will detour as follows:

Hamilton’s Public Works Department will close the Queen Street Hill (Beckett Drive) this Sunday, July 5, 2015 from start of service until approximately 5:00 p.m. due to emergency maintenance.

Due to the closure, 34 UPPER PARADISE will need to be temporarily detoured during this time.

2014 Remembrance Day Detours – Downtown Hamilton

There will be Remembrance Day Celebrations in Hamilton, Dundas, Ancaster and Stoney Creek on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

In Hamilton, the ceremonies will be held at a temporary cenotaph on the west side of the forecourt at Hamilton City Hall. As a result, Main Street directly in front of City Hall (between Bay and Summers Lane) will be closed between 10:55 AM and 11:10 AM. Traffic on Bay Street will be maintained during this time.

As a result, several routes will be temporarily detoured during the closure.

Main Street East Closed Today Due to Demonstration

An Aboriginal demonstration today has resulted in the closure of Main Street East between James and John Streets. The city announced the possible closure on Thursday, and this morning Hamilton Police actioned the closure to ensure the safety of participants.

The roadway is expected to remain closed until 7:00pm.
