New GO trips from McMaster start December 31st


GO Transit is making some schedule modifications starting Saturday, December 31st with some minor changes to the 15A ALDERSHOT/MCMASTER route.

Starting December 31st two new Friday eastbound trips will depart McMaster University at 1:28 PM and 5:26 PM respectively. The additional Friday only eastbound trip departing from McMaster University at 2:25 PM has been cancelled. The existing 2:30 PM departure from McMaster University is unchanged.

New Beamsville stop added to route 12 GO bus to Niagara Falls


Starting on September 6th a new stop will be added to the route 12 GO bus which travels between Burlington and Niagara Falls, with a stop in Hamilton.

The route was previously extended west passed Burlington GO Station to service the Dundas St. @ Hwy. 407 Park & Ride.

The newest stop in Beamsville is another Park & Ride stop. The new stop is located at Ontario Street and South Service Road.

New GO Bus between Brantford and Aldershot via McMaster starts September 3rd


GO Transit bus service will expand to Brantford this fall and today the full detailed schedule was released. The new bus service will be an extension of the existing McMaster University to Aldershot GO Station train meet service on route 15.

GO buses will run every hour during weekday peak periods and every two hours during weekday off-peak periods and on weekends. In total, there will be 26 trips every weekday and 18 trips on both Saturday and Sunday.

New double-decker GO buses to start serving Hamilton GO Centre in September

While the original GO Transit double-decker buses were unable to run out of the Hamilton GO Centre due to the low bridge at Hunter, the newer low-floor, low-height double-decker buses now in service will soon be running out of the downtown terminal.

The new double-deckers are 39 cm lower than the first generation of double-decker GO buses, and 24 cm lower than the second generation, which means they are able to clear more bridges and trees, increasing the number of routes they can travel on.

Starting in September the new low-floor, low-height buses will replace single deck buses that serve:

  • Route 47 407 WEST

New Weekday GO Rail Service Planned Between Hamilton and the Niagara Region

Ontario is planning to bring new weekday GO rail service between the future Confederation GO Station in Hamilton and the Niagara Region starting in 2021, with service to Niagara Falls by 2023.

Subject to a final agreement with CN Rail, Metrolinx will start the consultations, planning and design work required to implement the service including:

GO Transit schedule changes effective June 25th


Major Lakeshore West schedule changes are coming for trains beginning on Monday, June 27th as GO Transit gets ready for some platform and track closures at Union Station coming in the near future.

With the changes, all Toronto-bound trains departing from both the Hamilton GO Centre and West Harbour GO Station have revised schedules. Scheduled departures to Hamilton’s two GO stations have also changed. However GO Transit has cancelled one change after calls to lessen the impacts of the change.

New GO Bus between Brantford and Aldershot via McMaster starting in September


GO Transit bus service will be expanding to Brantford this fall, travelling to Aldershot GO Station with a connection to McMaster University in Hamilton.

Premier Kathleen Wynne was at Brantford Transit today to make the announcement.

Brantford Transportation Announcement on Wednesday


Premier Kathleen Wynne and Steve Del Duca, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation, will be in Brantford on Wednesay morning for a transit announcement. The announcement will be made at the Brantford Transit Terminal at 10:00 AM.

It’s believed that the announcement will be about GO Transit service for Brantford.

In February the provincial budget included a new dedicated GO bus linking the city of Brantford to GO train service.

The new GO bus is expected to travel during rush hour times to Aldershot GO station in Burlington. However frequency, exact hours of operation, and exact routing is not known. It is also unknown if the bus will have any link to the Hamilton GO Centre.

New GO Bus Facility Opens In Hamilton


Today, the governments of Canada and Ontario, along with Metrolinx, celebrated the opening of a new GO Transit bus service and storage facility in Hamilton to accommodate future transit service growth in the region.

The new facility is strategically positioned to provide easy access to the highway network on which GO Transit operates and will make it easier for GO to provide timely, reliable and efficient transit service in the region.

GO Transit Fare Increase Effective February 1st, 2016


At its meeting on Thursday, December 3, the Metrolinx Board of Directors approved a GO Transit fare increase which will take effect on February 1, 2016. In a release it was stated that the fare increase will help GO “respond to increasing ridership demand by providing customers with more travel options, enhanced and reliable service, and well-maintained facilities and equipment.”

GO Transit will see about 71 million boardings this year compared to about 68 million in 2014.

Single adult fares for paper tickets will increase as below:

  • a 40 cent increase on fares between $5.70 and $6.50
  • a 50 cent increase on fares between $6.51 and $8.25
  • a 60 cent increase on fares greater than $8.25

Fares for children, students and seniors will also increase accordingly.
